Metallic Mineral Eye Shadow

Alicia Keys SUPERWOMAN Video

This week I applied my metallic 24k Gold Mineral Eye Shadow to Christine.  She already had black eyeliner and mascara on.  Using a tapered eye shadow brush, I dipped the brush into the 24k Gold Mineral Eye Shadow powder, tapped off the excess powder and pressed the color onto her eyelids blending up above the crease and blending out the edges.  I used just a tiny amount of the 24k Gold Mineral Eye Shadow powder on the tip of the brush, tapping off the excess and applied carefully under the bottom lash line.  To complete the look, I used our new Brow Highlighter, a see-thru shimmery white. just under the eye brow and blended into the 24k Gold Mineral Eye Shadow :

Application notes:  We applied the eyeshadow sparingly to give a subtle look for an 18 year old.  The camera did not pickup the actual sparkle of both the 24k Gold and Brow Highlighter mineral makeup eye shadow.

"If glitter from your eye shadow falls onto your cheek, roll a piece of Scotch tape onto your fingertip and use it lightly to lift off any flecks", says makeup artist Troy Surratt.

ref: Prevention Magazine 2010 Published Report
  1. Lighter, More Natural Coverage: Minerals have reflective properties, so light bounces off the face and creates a youthful glow.  Minerals also bind to the skin which make them less prone to becoming cake-y and drying our your complexion which can accentuate fine lines, wrinkles and imperfections.  Yes, because of their camouflaging properties, they will hide everything from acne scars and under eye circles to rosacea. Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons count on it for their patients to cover bruising and inflammation that can develop after some cosmetic procedures.
  2. Richer, Longer-Lasting Color: Mineral makeup contains natural pigments in place of artificial dyes resulting in colors that are deeper and more vibrant.  Colors in a range of hues including reds, browns, tans, blues, greens, violets, pinks, as beautiful as Mother Nature herself.  Even better, these pigments won't fade of dilute the tone of makeup requiring less touch-ups.
  3. Reduces UVA Related Wrinkling: The base ingredients of mineral makeup are serecite mica, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, the same FDA approved ingredients that block damaging UVA and UVB rays in sunscreen.  It provides a physical barrier to help protect your skin from damaging rays. It is still advised to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen or lotion with an SPF of at least 30 to your entire face before applying makeup.
  4. Excellent for Sensitive Skin: Many mineral makeup lines, including Face Value Cosmetics, are free of artificial dyes, fragrances, alcohol, preservatives and oils, which can irritate skin.  This means they can be safe to use even on sensitive skin.  It is still recommended to do a patch test before use if you are highly sensitive or allergic.
Mica minerals have perfect basal cleavage, which means that they are easily split into thin, often transparent sheets. Muscovite is so common it is considered a rock-forming mineral.  ref: about.com:geology

On a personal note, I am sorry last weeks post went out 3x.  It takes about 6 hours for a new post to appear on my Facebook Page, so I will just post once and be patient while I wait for it to appear.   ~ Nancy
